The Backing Young Britain campaign brings together business, government and the voluntary sector, to provide work opportunities for young people. Hundreds of businesses of all sizes, across Britain are supporting the campaign which is free to take part in. Between now and March 2011, Backing Young Britain will provide 20,000 internships and create excellent opportunities for business, young people and Britain.
A programme to support employers offering internships and work placements will be provided as part of the campaign to take care of the placement and administration. This will leave companies and participants free to enjoy the benefits.
By taking part you will gain valuable assistance for short term projects, as well as demonstrate your company’s commitment to social responsibility. Backing Young Britain is a practical way to assess the potential of young people as future employees, and gives young people the opportunity to realise their potential. If you would like to register your support, please visit www.hmg.gov.uk/backingyoungbritain
Placement opportunities will then be publicised to a pool of eligible 18-24 year olds. The responses will be collated and assessed and you will be provided with a shortlist of young people to choose from. By offering an internship or work placement of between 8 and 13 weeks, your organisation will gain enthusiastic young people, offering the various benefits outlined above.
