The Food and Grocery Industry Skills and Employment Summit 2010

The Skills and Employment Summit being held by IGD will take place on Wednesday 10 March at The British Museum, London.

The Summit will address skills gaps and staff development, as well as the issue of youth employment. Focusing on farming, manufacturing, and retailing for large and small to medium companies, the event will involve political parties, government departments, sector skills councils and education experts.

Covering the food chain from farm to fork, the day will consist of a high level assessment of critical issues, raise vital questions and float potential solutions. By sharing best practice and highlighting existing vital initiatives, it is hoped the event will initiate new approaches.

The day aims to act as a catalyst towards helping the education system to adapt to changing needs, tackling unemployment and encouraging the uptake of new skills by food companies. There will be guest speakers and the chance to ask questions, as well as breakout groups, giving you the opportunity to network and find out more.
