VLQs and food safety
VLQ's
Vocationally-linked Qualifications (VLQs) are those which are based upon learning outcomes defined in Units of Learning which, where appropriate, are directly derived from National Occupational Standards (NOS). They are typically practical and/or theoretical courses, aimed at developing skills and knowledge without testing their application in the workplace. Their purpose is to provide teaching, learning and assessment, which certifies the acquisition of skills and knowledge. These awards are available at different levels, level one (entry) to level three (supervisory/technical) and cover all aspects of food and drink. Have your say in the proposed structure of VLQs Improve are working with an Awarding Body Forum to develop units of learning for new Vocationally-linked qualifications which will be launched next year. Our role has been to facilitate the development of these units with awarding bodies who currently offer food and drink qualifications. Structures of these qualifications are still in development with awarding bodies however we are proposing a Food Manufacture Vocational Certificate at levels 2 and 3 to replace awards currently in the market. This is only the first phase and once qualifications are developed by awarding bodies we will be looking to add units. Please click here to download the current list of unit of learning titles.
