Skills for Business Network

Improve is one of the new networks of UK wide Sector Skills Councils charged to lead the productivity through skills drive in industry. The Skills for Business Network will bring together employers, trade unions, learning providers and professional bodies working with funding bodies and government to develop the skills that UK business needs.

The Sector Skills Development Agency (SSDA) underpins the SSC network and effective working between the sectors. It is promoted through the work of the cross sector board, which examines issues that affect all the sectors within the network. 

Cross sectoral issues that are currently being addressed are as follows:

• Management and leadership national occupational standards
• Leadership skills development
• The exploitation of IT technology & skills
• The embedding of employability & sustainability knowledge and skills within current qualifications in order to better prepare young people for the world of work.
