Cultural Diversity in the Workplace
Improve is dedicated to promoting best practice in employing a culturally, diverse workforce.
Recent research findings, commissioned by Improve, have identified several key areas of concern across food and drink manufacturing. For full details of this research click here.
In addition, various employer pilots exploiting the issues associated with employing and working with overseas nationals or others from culturally diverse backgrounds have identified the following concerns:
- The need for practical advice and guidance on the issues that confront employers and their management teams on a daily basis.
- The need to provide a wider understanding of the growing number of religions and cultures now represented within the food and drink industry.
- A requirement to share best practice with regard to the creation of a working environment that promotes the benefits of cultural diversity
- The need to examine some of the key issues that can adversely affect good working practices (and therefore productivity and profitability)
- A requirement to help employers understand and therefore comply with all relevant legislation.
Employing & Managing a Culturally Diverse Workforce: Problems and Solutions Food and Drink Manufacturing is caught in a dilemma of labour shortages, at all levels, that are not being filled by the indigenous population.
As a consequence, the industry is in many cases having to rely on the employment of overseas nationals in order to fill a wide range of job roles.
This workshop has therefore been designed to provide information and guidance on a range of key issues related to employing and working with overseas nationals or those from culturally diverse backgrounds.
The workshops can be delivered in your workplace for a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 20 employees. Each delegate receives a comprehensive resource to take away on the day.
