Schools Challenge
The Food and Drink School Challenge is a fun and exiting way in which food and drink employers can get involved in local education and assists schools to relate learning to real companies and employment. The Challenge was developed in Scotland by Scottish Enterprise and Scottish food and Drink but is now available all over the UK.
The programme ‘challenges’ teams of young people to develop new food and drink products including the initial ideas generation, analyzing a target market and customer group, development of recipes and manufacturing process, marketing and pricing. The programme can be delivered flexibly to focus upon food science, design and technology, mathematics … even art and music!
Three case studies are available which explain the Challenge programme from the schools perspective, an employer’s perspective and one which focuses upon a food science approach.
