As the Sector Skills Council for Food and Drink, Improve has been established to help you, the industry employee, in gaining the skills you need to help you fulfil your potential in the food and drink sector.
Improve’s vision is ‘to generate profit for employers through skills’. This means we will work with the Government, the education sector, training providers and your employers in the industry to develop training opportunities to help you develop the skills and qualifications you need.
The links on the left indicate some of the areas through which Improve is developing skills and qualifications for you. Whether you are looking to do on-the-job training as an apprentice for your current employer, learn a new skill across the industries like basic management or if would like to start to study for a qualification , there really is something for everybody.

Multi Skills Academy Currently in its early stages, the Academy is to be the prestigious UK-wide centre of learning for all people in the food and drink industry. The Academy will not deliver courses itself, but will act as a facilitator or gateway to training, in partnership with the Government, Food and Drink Industry, education sector and training providers. Employees will soon be able to take nationally recognised courses through the academy to build up their CV and make them more employable across the food and drink sector. Training programmes available will include health and safety management; target marketing; soft skills for managers; project management; team leading, problem solving and much more. Apprenticeships: An apprenticeship is a work-based learning programme for young people aged between 16 and 24 years of age. It provides them with the first step towards a long-term career. If you are an employee, who would like to improve your qualifications while still getting paid to do your job then click on the Apprenticeship link.
