Employer
As an employer in the industry, you will know that the food and drinks industry is huge and faces numerous problems across the sub-sectors including skills shortages and the recruitment and retention of staff.
As the Sector Skills Council for Food and Drink, Improve has been established to help you … the industry employer.
Improve’s vision is ‘to generate profit for employers through skills’. We will achieve this by working with and being led by, the skills needs identified by employers.
The links on the left indicate some of the areas through which Improve is trying to work with employers to achieve our aims. Please click on the link on the left which best meets your needs, alternatively if you cannot find exactly what you want there is a search facility at the top of the page.
New for 2006:
1. Have Your Say! Improve has recently developed a new online consultation platform on this website, designed to make it easier for you to have your say on new products, services, qualifications and standards from the initial stages of development through to final content, delivery and structure. Click here to view all projects currently open for consultation.
2. Building the best employer-led Skills Academy dedicated to the Food and Drink industry. Improve is currently working to develop the first employer-led Skills Academy for the food and drink industry. The Academy model was developed following an employer pilot in late 2004, to ensure it met the need of companies throughout the UK. The Academy will be a one-stop-shop for employers and training providers, industry employees and sector stakeholders who want to develop the most up to date skills and practices in their workforce to increase overall industry productivity to globally competitive levels. The Academy will not deliver courses itself, but will act as a facilitator or gateway to training, in partnership with leading private and public training providers. 3. Help us shape the future of the food and drink industry. New for 2006, Improve is leading the development of the new 14-19 Specialised Diploma in Manufacturing. The new qualification, which will launch in 2009, will offer young people aged 14-19 the opportunity to get a real taste of working in manufacturing. The structure, content and delivery of the Diploma is currently open for wider industry consultation at www.manufacturingdiploma.co.uk. Remember this is your chance to have your say in the qualifications and school curriculum of tomorrow.
