As an HR Professional in the industry, you will know that the food and drinks industry is huge and faces numerous problems across the sector including skills gaps in the industry and the recruitment and retention of staff.

As the Sector Skills Council for Food and Drink, Improve has been established to help you.

Improve’s vision is ‘to generate profit for employers through skills’.

We will achieve this by working with the Government, the education sector, training providers and Industry employers.

The links on the left indicate some of the areas through which Improve is trying to work with employers to achieve our aims. As an HR or Training Professional many of our products and services may be of use to you in developing the skills and qualification levels of staff in your organisation. Multi Skills Academy 
Currently in its early stages, the Improve Multi Skills Academy is to be the prestigious UK-wide centre of learning for all people in the food and drink industry.

The Academy will be a one-stop-shop for employers and training providers, industry employees and sector stakeholders who want to develop the most up to date skills and practices in their workforce to increase overall industry productivity to globally competitive levels.
The Academy will not deliver courses itself, but will act as a facilitator or gateway to training, in partnership with the Government, Food and Drink Industry, the Education Sector and Training Providers.

Apprenticeships
An apprenticeship is a work-based learning programme for young people aged between 16 and 24 years of age. It provides them with the first step towards a long-term career. Qualifications
Qualifications for the Food and Drink Sector cover a wide range of operations as well as food hygiene and food safety. Qualifications are available at levels one to three and can be delivered and assessed in the workplace (S/NVQs) or used to give the technical knowledge and understanding needed to do a job (VRQs).
